Sounds a lot, but when you think that would raise the value of the bike to probably $6000 - $10,000 if the rest of it were in fantastic condition, it's not so bad.

If you invested $5000, and had a 50% increae in 5 years you'd be extremely happy, so why not use your bike as the investment tool?
