The Importance of Correctly Setup Powervalves !

jimmy13 » Thu Jul 02, 2009 10:49 pm

Okay after buying my new MC21 and getting back into the forum I discovered my powervalves were incorrectly setup and had rounded off the centre of the cable guide (butterfly pulley)rendering it useless.

Thanks to some effecient advice I ordered the correct replacement parts from lings honda uk. Unfortunately lings had all the parts I needed except the front cable guide but said it was on a ship and would be here mid August. Having purchased tickets to the festival of 1000 bikes and booking the time off work I had to do something to get my bike working.

After an evenings misery of phoning the world and his mate looking for one,I received the parts lings did have in stock. Had a brain wave when I saw that the square cut washers were steel, I asked a mate to flatten what was left of the rounded cable guide and spot weld it to the on. He used the new plate (whole is square cut 90degrees offset) to clamp the washer to the guide and braised it on. Fitted it on with the new item and set it up. After playing with the tyga tailpiece gently for 25 mins before I got it on, I took her for a spin........WOW Shocked what a difference I had an MC16 and that was quick but this was much much quicker. I thought after selling the Ducati I would miss the power but I realise why I missed the MC16.

Big thanks for the advice on part numbers and setting up the powervalves guys top site. Laughing
