Aftermarket gasket paper and OEM gaskets can differ in crush.

Ask Matt@TYGA; I seem to recall it was him who measured a load of different base gaskets... "because he could"!

I would only use gasket paper for non-essential areas like the clutch cover or water pump... if I had to! Like Steve says, paper gaskets are certainly not the most expensive part of any rebuild, but could cost you an expensive rebuild if you use substandard ones.
