mounting reservoir for radial brake master cylinder

Jim » Fri Apr 09, 2004 12:12 am

I'd like to mount a Brembo radial brake master cylinder on my MC21 (10 poser points!) and need to figure out where best to mount a bracket to attach the brake fluid reservoir (there is no mounting point on the master cylinder itself). I was thinking of mounting a small L-shaped bracket, attaching it at the place where the 8 x 40mm pinch bolt secures the upper triple on the right side. This is a countersunk bolt, so I was thinking of going to a 8 x 45mm (since the bracket would block the head of the stock bolt from going into the recessed area) so that about the same amount of bolt thread will still be securing the upper triple. My understanding is the upper triple is supposed to be torqued to only about 9 ft. lb., so there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of load involved. Has anyone tried this (I'm guessing no), or does anyone see any reason this would be unsafe or otherwise ill-advised? Any advice, including alternatives, would be much appreciated. Please help an aspiring poser out! Very Happy
Thanks,
Jim
