Thanks to all of you for taking the time to have a look at the pictures...
I believe it makes good sense with the MC16 barrels.
Also the paperwork I got with the bike (rebuild by Stan Stephens) looks to be from way back in 94, though it's hard to tell if it says 94 or 04.
But from the condition of the engine and bike in general my bet is 94
I'm sure the barrel was well damaged when I picked up the bike.
It hasn't been runing extremely lean then (probably only a little), but seemed to be rather rich due to the low compression.
I've got hold of an MC21 engine in good condition (bottom end, top end, flywheel and pickups), and have to decide what I'm going to do.
Will take a closer look on the crankcases over the weekend. If it isn't to much work, I'll mount it in the MC16 frame.
I should probably mention that I work as a mechanical constructor developing machines, and I have access to the lathe, mill etc.
No matter if I decide to use the MC16 or MC21 bottom end, I plan to setup the bike with:
- Modified airbox (standard filter, but some holes in the top cover)
- MC18 carbs (blocking the non MC16 features, I will look up the info on the forum)
- The GP type exhaust that's on the bike at present (might source some MC18 pipes later)
- MC21 top end (barrels and heads)
- MC16 electrics (if possible to use with the MC21 ignition pickups?)
- Premix or oil pump, not sure at the moment
Any thoughts on the above are appreciated...
Will post in the members section with regards to jetting when I get that far
