Likewise with the R2J and R4J, although the R4J isn't generally as sought after in my experience. It's nice to have one, but it's "just" an R with a set of Magteks really, and being 22 years old now, the likelihood of finding a good genuine original one is extremely remote. No doubt the rarest of NSR's now, but very under-spec'd.
Unfortunately for Rob, £1300 is par for the course for a really nice R2J. He'd be mad to sell it for that kind of money of course, but what it's worth to him and what it's worth, are two entirely different things!
Unfortunately for MC18 owners, the models of choice are MC21's and MC28. Both still look modern today, and both can fetch good money. The MC21 is the pick of the bunch, giving best value for money. The MC28 is over-rated and owners hate us for saying it, but truth hurts. It was never the bike it should've been, and it makes the money because [a] new buyers often don't know any better, or [b] know better but simply want the last of a generation. [a] is unfortunate, [b] is their perogative, but they are paying heavily for it... in some cases £2000 on top of an equivalent MC21 price!*
All in all, prices tend to start at about £500 for an OK MC16, and end about £5000 for a top MC28SP, and it's a pretty linear climb from bottom to top! Stick £700~£1000 on any price for a really really nice/SP bike!

Just my opinion, of course, and rough UK prices! US tends to be more expensive, and titled bikes even more so. Not sure about OZ. If someone wants to give a general appraisal I can add them to the data and publish a more comprehensive chart.
It's clear lately too, that the more standard looking a bike is, the more money it will command. The only exception to this often tends to be the allowance given for a set of stainless race chambers, but OEM bodywork/colours is certainly more desirable than anything else.
By the way, it was purely a "happy accident", the base line being so linear!
*I know this statement will get a few backs up, but let's keep it objective. I don't want to see any arguments about it in this thread!
