Race one and the bike is ready after many new parts,ohlins rear,hyperpro springs and 20 weight oil front,new front cylinder piston and ring(single ring),EBC rear rotor and hh pads,front cylinder main to 210/rear 200,needle on no 4 clip,only airbox bottom no filter.New short rs plugs and caps,fresh ht leads.plus new rens sport 2 rear/super corsa road front.(had tested the bike for the first time the previous day).Anyway...
Race 1 qual for second row of grid.Got a good start for a change but as always stuffed it up when the Gp 125s came through the bike seemed fine and had started to reel in the front 5.2nd lap and the front group are now moving away!,bah whats up with me.3rd lap end of back straight and the race is over can't get the bike to rev to 10,000 hand up limp to pits...bah!.
My first thought was that it had seized again but it did no feel like one.Try to see what i can do in the pits the bike starts but needs a bit of help this is not ging to work.
Race 2/Plan B,this time i have a backup bike my Aprilia RS but it has not been used for 6 months and apart from the Tyga pipes some holes in the airbox and bigger mains is standard.Rain on track and race delayed whilst the Gp 125s put on wets.Eventualy get going track is half wet and covered in oil have a couple of slides on my slippy tyres but things seem to be getting better but the RS is so different and has to much comp on the rear,which is now moving around a bit.Felt very slow,head wind is a killer.Big cras at the hairy pin 2 125s go down but i am catching the SV in front.4 lap 2 more to go and i get the SV at the right hander at the top of the hill but there is a red flag.The race is declared....bah...BAH!.
So 6th place with the SV in 5th.
The RS has an interesting dash and gives the max and ave speeds.The max in this race was 197 with an ave of 88kph on this track that is sooo slow!.Lap time 1.18.00 BAH!.
Race 3,last race.Baaad start,watching the bike in front and kind of forgot about 2nd gear bikes flying by wake me up.The track is now dry and my tyres are finaly working.Get past an RGV on the back straight and start chasing a GSXR.3rd lap undertake the GSXR on the hair pin and start riding the bike.I can see the front group but there are only 2 laps to go can't catch them and finnish 5th.
This time the RS computer gives me an ave of 98kph and a top speed of 202kph.Lap time 1.15.30 baaaaah!.My times here are about 1.11.00.
Time to go home......
Later remove heads no seize all looks good really good with nice flow marks on the front piston crown and a bit rich on the rear.So what?...Next grab a hand full of flywheel and yep the crank moves up and down baaaaaah!.Yeah stuffed crank(tyga here i come).
Not my best race not the worst.Bad news is no NSR for the next round.Time for a rebuild.The bike was going great the suspension work has worked great and the motor felt strong,it will be better next season time for some RVF forks.......See ya all from sunny NZ.
