Hi again guys,
As you know I've been doing a rebuild. All is well, engine is back together. I've dropped the old engine out and just need to rebuild my carbs and put the new engine in.
Getting back to the topic. When I tore down my dry clutch I noticed that I didn't have any of those rubbers on the last plate.
So I order up 4 with my rebuild kit and forget about it.
Fast forward a few weeks and I'm finishing my rebuild. Time to put the clutch plates back in and I remember my rubbers. I dig them out and pop them out of their little Honda baggies.
I struggle and manage to slip them on to the clutch ring.
1. They didn't really sit very well
2. They weren't evenly spaced - the clutch plate has 14 notches so I had uneven gaps between them
3. I go to pop the clutch plate in and one of the rubbers breaks and pops off. I push it the rest of the way in and 2 more break.
So I left it with 1 clutch rubber.
What's the go with these things. Is there some trick? Did I order the wrong thing? Did I put them on the wrong place?
Looking at the parts manual, it seemed like the outside splines of the first friction plate were the place to put them. Maybe I was wrong.
Advice?
Cheers
Clancy
