Cylinder head studs

fstnsr » Tue Nov 23, 2010 8:25 pm

I have had a bit of an issue with one of the cylinder head studs. It kept coming "loose" I have just figured out it has actually been pulling through the ali threads (no I haven't been overtightened it).

The stud was in so the shorter threaded bit was in the cylinder. Is that the corret way, i would have thought the longer threaded bit should have been in cylinder and the shorter bit in the nut.

Anyway now to fix it! Anyone have any ideas? I was thinking of drilling it out and using a heli-coil. Is ther a better way of doing it? there has been a bit of coolant leaking should I change the head gasket too?

Cheer
Mike
