I'd recommend the thick plate before heavy duty springs... but I guess it depends on how heavy they are! Some are just unnecessarily heavy.

We used to sell HRC springs in the Marketplace. I'll see if I can still get them later. Although stiffer, you couldn't actually "feel" the difference with them due to the leverage. I have them in mine now (plus the thick steel) and the clutch is as light as stock still.
