I've had a couple of enquiries about NSR150SP specs available in Australia, so here's what I know:
The NSR wasn't exactly the best seller in Thailand due to it being the most advanced bike (stop laughing) available here at that time. But, it was also considerably more expensive than the 'next best thing'. However, the Kawasaki KR150 was the fastest of the bunch and was the hooligan bike of choice for the macho street racer. It was the only 150 stocker to hit 100mph straight off the showroom floor. Tested all 4 on Castrol's rolling road.
Anyway, Honda were left with a shed load of these things cluttering up their hallway, so instead of crushing them, they decided to fob them off on the Aussies.
Asia Pacific Honda only answer to Honda Japan......allegedly, so there wasn't much they could do about it....allegedly.
The one glaring difference is the headlight. The normal Thai spec headlight works for Thailand, as it doesn't really matter if you can see or not. Walking Street (ask Granty) is brightly lit 24hrs a day. The Aussie spec (I think) has the Thai bulb area cut out, and then some dodgy plumber from down under Mastik's a real bulb holder in there.......lovely job!
Concerning other components such as engine spec, carbs, wheels, brakes etc are all identical. Maybe the tyres are different.
I hope that covers most things. If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask your local Honda dealer. Or call AP Honda direct on +66-2-............
