The later model 21's and 28's have an extra oil feeder to the right side crank bearing. If you try to run the later pumps on an earlier engine, you end up with oil all over the engine. You can block off the feeder hole if that's the only pump you got.

I don't think that running the older pump on the newer engine would be a good idea.
