after assembling the bikes in the other post and the other bikes that ive had heres a few thoughts ....they are of course my own humble opinions....
of the two strokes ive owned (and i'll always have one !)
the sdr 200...now i dont know how many of you out there have had one but if you see a cheap one give me a shout there wicked,
also called the wippet they weigh approx 100kg and make from the powervave single cylinder 34/36 bhp..top fun
the yamaha rd 350lc (4lo) is a must to have had if you get a chance to own one ..do it and cane it mercilessly, they were and are a icon bike ..
unfortunetly the classic brigade have taken hold and the chances of getting one for what there trully worth is now long gone.
the rd350 ypvs or lc2.....had lost the classic looks of the original,
was a better bike with more power that ws now smoothed out so it never felt as fast as the on/off delivery of the first model
the rd350f.....this was the fully faired version of the previous,
with a bit more power
yamaha rd500....ive ridden loads and ive never wanted to own one ..why ?
well all the extra complexity didnt seem to be worth the extra performance and the last 350 models with a bit of tweaking can be almost as fast..and less expensive to rebuild
the ns400r dosnt seem so popular with the above and still can be found for ok money....i had a minter for £1650 it went well and handled far better than it should with thin tyres and 16" front wheel, the only negative being the sound from its pipes (3 lashed together mopeds!)
the rare vj23 suzuki this was the one we didnt get with a v70 degree engine and electric start only and dry clutch.
a smidge roomier and very similar in power / handling to the honda , possibly more modern being produced in 1997...mine went bang spectacularly one month after i sold it ...whoops
kawasaki kr250,from the era of the lc and not officially imported into the country...often called weird alice...which is unfair because its 7 years before the tzr / nsr and if you compare it to the first gamma you willsee that high fairing look was in....the other odd thing when comparing is that it has 45 bhp and flies up to 115 mph....but it has the riding position of a gold wing ?
it sounds daft but the first go on a tzr250r (3xv) was life changing (instead of underpant changing) sooo low ,
stuck to the road handling...amazing
probably had 4 of em and probably my favourite two stroke ever..
heres the rarer black and grey model
try something up to date so i had a mk2 aprilia rs250r, nice well made ,lovely components....but too big for a 250 ,
all of the power right up the top ...no bottom / middle range ..all of the restricted japs had far more bottom end
that brings me onto the nsr mc28 se....it looks so good and to use modern language it has the bling thing going on!
with the credit card ignition (wonder if honda will do chip and pin ?) single sided swinger , dry clutch ect
now which is best rs250 vs tzr250 vs nsr vs rgv
best pose honda
best components aprilia
rarest rgv vj23
my fave tzr250r...........whoops sorry
