Dana's '94 NSR250 MC28

Dana » Fri Aug 19, 2011 2:59 am

I worked a little extra this summer and made a few extra dollars, so what better way than to blow it on an '94 NSR250 MC28?

I was cruising yahoo auctions feeling things out when this "beauty" showed up. It was a pretty low start price but knowing I was going to track it and beat the living daylights out of it, I wasn't worried if it needed a little work...plus I enjoy that sort of thing. The previous owner acknowledged the body work wasn't perfect and had changed a few parts, but ran fine.

It turns out the owner bought off a friend of mine, so he gave me the lowdown once he knew I bought it. Small world a bike gets shipped halfway across Japan and makes it back to Tokyo and previously owned by a friend!

Besides it appearing as the previous owner had not cleaned the bike a single time in the ~6 months of ownership, and it being generally "oily", the bike started right up on a half assed kick and the clackity clack of the dry clutch forced my daughter to clutch her ears in agony...but it was that familiar sound from my old 996's dry clutch that I missed about it. And by "oily", I mean it feels like it lived its life next to the deep fryer at Mickey D's.

A few snap shots:

Mia minutes before running into the house because of the loud dry clutch:
