I can't remember the part with the special tool on the carby, maybe someone else can shed light on that.

Since you are not using a standard air filter, check your jetting and adjust if necessary. You check your jetting by doing a plug chop, discussions on jetting is not allowed in this section of the forum (forum rules), but folks are more than happy to help in other ways.
