The light on the 250 is a combined ignition warning and low 2T oil level warning light, so I would imagine it's the same on the 150 too.
There is quite a safety margin built into the oil warning system so that you have a lot of miles/Kms left before you run out, so I would say that you simply run close to the warning level. This would mean that on a corner, under hard acceration or hard braking, the level could appear to the sensor to be low. Once the baike is back level the oil level rises back sufficiently to turn the light out!
I personally top the oil tank back up after every ride. I can't ever remember seeing the warning light come on!
