When I rode Steve's F3 the brakes and forks were so much better than mine it was hard to get used to in the short time available.
On my bike (which is just stock with heavier fork oil) though I can brake late enough to make passes on those I race with it's clear I'm close to the limit, the lever needs a real squeeze, there's some judder from the front not tracking over the bumps that well etc.
On Steve's using the same braking markers (so, probably from a similar speed as I was considerably slower in the corners yet on a lot faster bike) I was still so far from the limit there was no sensation I was pushing at all (just the odd big bike going backwards fairly quickly), fear of throwing it down the road and concern about the front tyre (quality and age) meant I was unwilling to push further but I'm fairly sure ultimately they'd make a huge difference.
I've heard where some of the fast F250 boys say they can brake (for anyone who knows, past the surface change at Cadwell - Park Corner) and I struggled to see how before. Now? Maybe, just maybe...
