Just got back from the police station after making a statement.
There are two other statements...one from the policeman who lives opposite me in the compound, he saw three young men/kids taking the bike out the front gate of the compound. By the time he got dressed and got downstairs they had gone, not trace of them up or down the road.
Second statement is from a security guard and the compound next door...he said that he saw a flat bed truck drive around the corner away from my villa at around the same time the bike was stolen. He didn't say if he saw a bike on the truck, just a truck driving away at around 4am.
Two things bug me now. First one that I am almost convinced that these young men/kids saw my bike over the wall whilst walking to the shop and then either came back and stole it the next morning, or called someone and told them where the bike was. Second thing is that if a truck was involved my bike could be anywhere in the UAE now...my hopes of it being local have almost been dashed.
Anyway, the police were extremely helpful (again) and I'm very hopeful the bike will reappear. With my statement, a picture of the bike and the chassis/engine number the bike will be entered onto the national stolen vehicle register and every police station and patrol car will be alerted. The chances of my bike being found just increased exponentially...not only are all my friends, colleagues, pretty much all bike showrooms/workshops in the area aware of the bike being nicked but now the national police force are alerted.
I will p**s my pants with excitment the next time I get a call from the cops...hopefully it will be good news!
