Andy, I have spoken to Les and he agrees with me that it would do no harm to take a look. There is the old adage that says, if it ain't broke don't try and fix it...there is ALSO a little saying that we used in karting and that was..'better to take it apart yourself than let it take itself apart....you will always do a better job!'
The bike runs well, it is low on compression and is a b*stard to start when cold. I am more than happy to do this work, I know that I'm starting from a good base with this one.
I'm not a collector by the way, I just realised earlier in the year that my Striple was losing money month by month and I could ONLY ride it, not tinker.
I would find it VERY difficult to take the word of any dealer etc. Been there and done that.
