My suggestion would be first to make sure you have the right rate spring for your weight and type of riding. NSR stock springs arer pretty soft, as they were intended for the average Japanese rider. I weigh about 160 and the stock spring was too soft for me. Once you are ready to do setup, I suggest following the tips in the "suspension" link at "Sportrider magazine" website. Basically, start with setting your static sag correctly (approx. 30mm for rear, for street). Then put compression and rebound in the middle of their respective ranges and start experimenting with going harder or softer, one at a time, keeping notes. It's down to personal taste at that point.
