It sounds like the stator but first make sure there is nothing wrong with the modifications you did to the wiring loom.
If you've made the orange/blue wire splice then the GPS mod is not needed.

I believe that with the orange/ blue splice the stand switch and neutral switch will not function as well but make sure that there is not a short circuit in there.
