re the spade connectors, you'll likely find evidence of charring and/or pitting. When I had this problem, I gently cleaned the blades with a scotchbright pad to get them shiny and then sprayed with electric cleaner as suggested. But I totally agree that the key is to get a nice tight fit, so using needle nose pliers, I gently squeezed the female connector and then reinserted the blade connector (lord this is sounding sexual ). Tight fit, good to go. Words to live by, I'd say.
