OK I am looking for ideas for rules for 2006.
I think the basic format is ok - please tell me what you think.
I would like to introduce a rule that allowed competitors to drop their 4 worst race results. Aim of this is so that somebody that can't make all the meetings, and 14 race days is a lot, isn't unnecessarily penalised. I would have introduced the rule this year but I had a couple of objections - so in line with what I said when I asked the question it won't be introduced this year.
In terms of Format. We currently run with the 400s and as such are effectively propping up the grids (no other club has such busy grids). I can't see us getting 40 bikes regularly to justify a full grid of our own - so at best we would end up with something like the 750/250 running a split grid which is a pain. So I believe it is best to continue as we are. This does mean that you will need to get entries in early to ensure a grid place if you are doing a whole championship.
Prize money - this year we are up to about £1000. I would like to spread it about as much as possible. If anybody has any ideas for sponsorship or raising money please contact me. What I have been doing this year is selling sponsorship of individual rounds. Users of the KR and RGV Forums have kindly helped out. And Diamond Computers are sponsoring the two Mallory rounds.
Points the current GP system seems to be working ok.
At the moment I can't see any bike has a distinct advantage so no need to change the rules and introduce a handicap. I have been asked if 350 LCs can race - what do you think?
There was much complaining about the cost of entries with DP. I have had a look at other clubs and there is very little to chose between them. Agree entries for the smaller circuits, Aintree and Anglesey with other clubs are a bit less especially for the second class. However, if you compare with New Era, Bemsee or North Glos - DP are very similar. As such I see little point in changing to another club or mixing between clubs. Again views would be appreciated.
Any other views opinions I will be interested in.
