I'm redoing the Tech section with clearer instructions, but until then...

For the later models:

Synchronise the pump and throttle by slowly turning the throttle grip until the carburettor pulley just starts to move (i.e. take up any free play), and check the oil pump pulley also starts to move.

On the rear face of the throttle slides there are two "dimples". Open the throttle until the dimples line up with the top face of the carb vernturi, and check the first mark on the oil pump pulley lines up with the cast pointer on the pump body. (These dimples are also used to sync the two carbs.)
