Hi there I have a bog standard mc16 and since I bought it it has had problems accelerating in all gears from below 4000 to 7000. Above 7000 she goes well but when dropping below 6000 she begins to 4 stroke cackling and looses power. I have check plugs and rear is sooty but front is tan. Compression is even at 95 psi on both. I removed and cleaned carbs , twice and now at idle she seems more even ( prior it seemed to be running well on front but hardly firing on rear at idle). I noted rear card had 2qy needle front 2 qz but this appears factory tune to keep rear cylinder cooler? Anyway after clean and setting up as as per guide she is running better at mid revs and top end is good but ,although smaller, there is still a range through which the motor does not run well. I noted the sj and mj are standard .
Also above 7000 once in power band if I ease throttle the bike picks up revs which indicates to me she is running rich but I can live with that but the mid range makes it hairy getting off the mark, is this standard or should the bike pull smoothly from low revs till power band hits ?
Any advice , I live at 350 meters above sea level and often ride up to higher altitude on local rides,
have not ridden at sea level to compare performance. Thanks.
