Programable ECU

leetyler81 » Mon Sep 10, 2012 11:31 am

Hi I'm new to this forum, a little information about me I have always had large sports bike with the smallest being a zx9r. In the past i have sold my bikes to buy new ones/other man toys and have always wanted a 2 stroke sports bike to start a collection off. I picked up a MC18 for not much more than a carton of beer off a young guy who decided to strip it down with the attempt to rebuild it, however he lost some parts and i don't think he had the skills to complete the task hence the cheap price as he thought it was a mc28 because it was complianced in 1995. I am planning on rebuilding it as a track bike for a bit of fun and to kill some spare time. What i am wanting is some input and or some possible issue arising on running an after market programable ecu with compatible aftermarket coils/cdi/stator/ trigger sensors/harness to the ecu and a different servo for the RC valves, which can be programed into the ecu. I know it would be easier to just run the PGM II and associated components but all i have is a cracked PGMII which i don't know is operable. And in Australia all the other parts and components are near impossible to find. The programable ECU unit is from the two stroke shop in Cairns the cost is $195AUS and can accommodate a RC servo valve (which i was going to use a RGV servo because of accessibility being easier to come across) I don't find modifying things to work or fit and as it being a track bike there is no need for lights etc. If parts where more readily available for the MC18 i would do a complete nut and bolt resto to factory specs but this is not possible with the basket case of a bike that i bought.

Thanks for the input or advice

PS. I dont get onto the computer much so if you post a reply or a question don't get too annoyed if it takes me a little time to respond Thanks
