I would say you are tackling this strip down in the right way as the engine is the most complex bit all the rest is just bolt on stuff. Listen to the guys with the older bikes as they have the experience. I recently did my 1st motor strip down and rebuild and i really enjoyed it and would do it again tomorrow. Just familiarise yourself with the parts as you take them apart, read through all rebuilds on this forum and you should be fine. As neal says it will cost you more than you thought so dont rush into things, take your time and do it right.
