There's no point riding with a broken oil pump and no premix. You WILL sieze.

Oil pump failure is very rare, though of course it can happen, especially if it's been left standing outside, or thrashed mercilessly with chepa oil and a ham-fisted owner in charge. Even Honda can't beat stupid ownership!

If you do as NSR-Lizard suggests, you should be able to tell if the pump is working.
