The frame is anodized and is too hard for polishing, needs to be stripped with oven cleaner or other corrosive first.

Have you considered getting the frame re-anodized?

It looks much better in my opinion and will have a much more durable, non scratch surface that won't corrode or require maintenance like polishing will.
