It's not a big job, but you will have to fit the PGM-III under the rear seat, lengthen the wires from the stator (generator) to the main harness, and probably fit some MC21 instruments. (MC28 = digital display, MC21 = mechanical.)
As an additional bonus: A standard MC28 only produces 40hp, but if you fit a PGM-III/harness and do the wire-splice you will get an instant power gain:
- If everything is standard, and you fit a PGM-III/harness (with wire-splice), you will probably go from 40hp to about 47hp†.
- If you have already removed the restrictions in the standard exhaust downpipes, then you will probably go from 40hp to about 52hp†.
- If you already have race exhausts, you will go from 40hp to about 60hp†.
Not only will a PGM-III/harness be cheaper and easier to find than a new PGM-IV card, but you will also get "free" power on top!
Please note that you must check your jetting‡, and should modify the airbox as well as the PGM-III harness to get the best power. There are lots of posts about airbox modification on the forum.
