I am no expert on the MC28.
However, I would expect that if you disconnect the TPS, then of course you will get an "Error 3" implying that the TPS is faulty. It is disconnected, and therefore not working.
Maybe I have misinterpreted what you have said? Just trying to get the obvious stuff out of the way here.
