End play in shift shaft.

Middo » Tue May 07, 2013 3:38 am

Guys,

One of my MC21's has a bit of play in the shift shaft (cue the gags etc). It's about 6-7mm or so, enough that the gear linkage can rub against the frame easily, which seems excessive. I'm stripping the motor down at the moment, is there anything that I should be checking for ie a part missing/wrong model part etc that could cause this? Everything appears present when comparing against the parts manual.

I've just taken the clutch basket off, and the thin metal plate that sits in front of the shift shaft. Basically the shift mechanism can move freely along its axis with the plate stopping movement. Is this all there is?

I'll take a picture shortly. The clutch cover had gasket sealant on it, so I'm assuming someone has been in there before.

Cheers
