MC 21 Mixture

StardusterToo » Sat May 11, 2013 6:27 pm

Hi guys looking for a little advice - I'm west coast Canada so a bit out on my own here.

MC21 with 19k km's. It's been parked for 6 years, just got it fixed and running after the oil pump dumped into the gearbox.
Rode yesterday, it seems to perform great, but...
144 km of gentle twisty
11L of petrol ( I was using 50% 94 octane car petrol and 50% 100LL Avgas)
0.14 Litre Motul 2 stroke synthetic
Temperature gauge never went over 85 in stationary traffic, and was 75 ish most of the time. Air temp was around 18C

If my maths are right I was thinking I should have used a lot more oil than that?
At 30:1 I was thinking 11/30 = 0.36 Litres.
Or looking at it the other way, using .14 Litre means my ratio is something around 77:1, which sounds like it should have seized.

On another note, the front cylinder exhaust can was hotter than the rear but I'm guessing that might be carb balance.

Am I missing something, or should I be as thankful as I am that is didn't seize? that's kinda why I added the Avgas, for the extra lubrication, just in case.

thanks for any suggestions
Chris
