Hi all,
I've made a few posts on here now asking for advice so I thought I should at least say a few words and add a shot of my bike (as it was getting loaded onto the bike transporter). I recently bought an MC28 which was the only one I have ever seen come up for sale in Australia before. It runs pretty well and doesn't look too bad in it's Chinese fairings; although I definitely need to do something about the tank skin. It was sold as a 94 R2R but after a bit of digging I've managed to work out that it is in fact a 96 R2T (not sure which colour) in basically unmolested condition (it still has the original brake lines for instance).
So anyway right now here I sit in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. I work in the oil industry on the PNG LNG Hides project as a geologist which keeps me pretty busy. Currently the bike is partly disassembled and sitting under my house in Brisbane. I have bought quite a few parts for it in my absence including braided lines, billet Tyga triples, Tyga stainless exhaust, PGMIV with HRC card, new cables, new bearing carrier assembly for the rear wheel (looks like the previous owner used a chisel to adjust chain tension), new bearings/seals for linkages / shock / swingarm pivot and chain / sprockets. I'm very much looking forward to getting back home, assembling the bike and getting it registered.
This seems like a great site with a wealth of knowledge that people have shared. Happy to be a part of it.
Cheers
Jim
