The R7282A has a longer thread, so it will protrude further into the combustion chamber, and you run the risk of either the piston crown touching the plug, or creating a hotspot on the crown. Either situation could be devastating.
The simple answer is to use the R7282, or HRC spacer rings, which we can do for £15 a pair plus shipping.
You could probably make the spacers however, if you so wish, but you need to make sure you get the thickness correct to ensure the electrode protrudes into the combustion chamber the correct distance.
