You keep heat in them by carrying speed into corners. It's opening the throttle off the apex where the trouble starts. The tyres on the bike are almost slicks anyway.
Treaded tyres are nothing to worry about. Much easier to keep the heat in them and they move about more than a slick, or rather they start to move around at a lower speed. I'd rather crash slow than fast... I used Dunlop inters all last year without a problem. But then I've only got half the power of this thing.. Watching some of the guys at the track day, some of the lads on inters were pretty handy...
Must admit that when I first looked at it, I thought it was an RS500. You would think the extra carb, cylinder, exhaust and HT lead would have provided a clue
