I have all the Japanese manuals... workshop, parts, and HRC, and then some more. Nothing, not even the NSR Style Book tells you. My guess is based on the info in the Japanese manual. The white/violet is shown in the index before the white/red. The logical conclusion would be that Type 1 comes before Type 2.*

Your best bet is to order the smallest, cheapest coloured sticker (maybe the one off the bottom edge of the fuel tank?), and see which version comes! Then you will be able to come back and tell everyone which is Type 1, and which is Type 2!
