Hi Jim,

Yes I stripped the engine down 100% and had the parts vapour blasted. It's done in water and the medium used is very, very fine and after it's done you have to make sure all the fine blast material is removed. Clean water hose is fine. I seriously doubt you could guarantee that the material is not going to get into anywhere if you leave the engine intact.

The swing arm was done completely too and like new. The rod wasn't done but the nut and castle nut were. New bearings were then put in the swing arm. I also had the cast parts on the frame done. It's amazing but all the guy had to do to mask of the extruded part (rails) of the frame was put some electrical tape on just behind the welds and the blast did no harm at all to the tape!

It was not too expensive for the vapour blasting. Maybe about 400 NZD all up. Well worth it. Wish the rest of the build was as cheap!
