I turned up at a race in malaysia and my mate was riding an F3 MC21. As I walked into the pit garage he thrust a set of PJ38's in my hand and said "here ya go, fit these for me"
"This can't be done" I decared. "you need the RS insulators"
"Ah just shove 'em on and see what happens" was his answer to that.
So...I just shoved 'em on, sorted the cables, gave it a push and bugger me it fired right up.
Seemed to be running a tad fat on small throttle, so slid in some leaner needles and it ran pretty good.
Matey hopped on board for the race, which was an anything goes SP250/400 class, and got a good start. Third into the first turn, then passed everything to lead at the end of the first proper straight.
He diced with an F3 TZR for half a dozen laps then threw it in the bushes.
Just goes to show that you don't even need the RS insulators. Well maybe not. Looked a bit hideous with the carbs all crammed in there on the wazz and touching each other but it did work.
