Let me get this straight.
You bought a complete bike from a private individual - not a shop - and they did not give you any papers?
Can you contact them for the papers?
If not, then I'd be worried about proving it was your bike! I hope you have a receipt!
If you do and can prove it is yours, then you need to contact your licencing authority: In the UK they are able to trace the bike by frame number if it has been registered before, and issue replacement papers. If it has never been registered, it'll be harder to do, but you will need to register it yourself.
