The next best, I would personally say, is the Yamaha 3XV, but it is unnecessarily complicated in my opinion. I mean, and I'm not the only one to say it, why on earth would a 90 degree V-twin 2-stroke need a balance shaft?!
The airboxes, electronics, and engine configurations are a shambles, and the the whole package just looks messy. (Apart from the chassis.)
The NSR motor... largely unchanged for its entire production run. It says everything about the original design concept.
RS250 NF5 motor... based on the NSR250R...
RS250 NX5 motor... using the same design features as the NSR250R, albeit in a 72 degree configuration...
NSR500V motor... same again... just scaled up!
Honda hit the nail on the head with it's design, and left all others in its wake. Let's not even get into bore x stroke measurements.
In a way I'm glad that the NSR250 was never officially imported to the UK.
