I just found a gear display for 5.20 USD . It can only show N,1,2,3,4,5 but this is done by just connecting one lead to 12V and the corresponding 1-5 lead to ground, ideal for a NSR. 6. gear could just be blank.
I did however try to combine the pins and by combining 2 leads(could be done with just 2 extra diodes) I got a mirrored 6 a 8 and a 9, which could be used for 6. gear.

Maybe a real 6 could be found if the display was hacked but its filled with some black goo.
