I think it is a view both based on experience, I used Filtrate many years ago and even tried Duckhams on a recommendation and that cost me a set of clutch plates.
Most oils today are of a far better specification than even ten years ago, the preferred option here by the racers is Silkolene.
I had a lot of experience of synthetic oils when I worked on gas turbines, that was Aeroshell 500 so Shell products are as good as anybody's but I choose Castrol, I tend to stick with what I have had good service with.
For the techies the best way would be to check the specifications of all the different makes, I'll leave that to someone else I think.
