MC28 electrics

stuntpea » Fri Aug 22, 2014 12:35 pm

Dudes,

I've stripped and cleaned the corrosion of my MC28 I imported from Japan earlier this year.

So I've put it back together again and now when I put the card in the indicators at the front of the bike are on all the time. Apart from when I switch the indicator switch to the left or right, then they flash properly.
The headlights, that worked a week ago now doesn't.
Weirdly, when I opened the neat little black box with all the connections that sits under the tank near the headstock, I pulled the horn plug out and the indicators worked properly.

I did the usual of making sure the headlight bulbs are working, I put a new and charged battery on the bike, checked the connectors which all seem fine.

I suspect it could be the handlebar switch unit on the left handlebar being corroded. When I push in the hazards button it's really slow to pop back out again.
The horn works.
All the connectors seem to be connected properly.
I checked the fuses which are fine
I sprayed WD40 into the switch unit but it didn't make any difference.

A chap at work suggested it could be a bad earth from the horn.

And that's everything I know.
Is there anything i should test or check?
I've got a multimeter and I'm ok ish doing electrics.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Rich
