It's never a waste if you're enjoying it. Some people don't like to ride fast, so people don't like to ride on the street... horses for courses, as they say.

Yes, the stock pipes are very heavy, but race pipes tend to lose bottom-end and mid-range, over stock pipes, and you will be using predominantly low RPM.

Stock chambers are also very robust! They will stand up to the bike being dropped far better than any race pipe. I expect the Japanese guys know a thing or two... hence why they are happy to run stock pipes!
