Those Dog Fights came from way way back. I wouldn't be surprised if they were from the mid 90s. They ran 90-91 spec HRC silencers too.
Remember though, what suits one bike may not necessarily suit another. Different pipe characteristics also suit different conditions, tunes, and/or requirements. It's not as simple as just saying "Dog Fights are the best [on a tuned TT-FIII MC21]", and then fitting them blindly to an SP spec MC28 and expecting the best performance.
It's commendable you buying all the "right" parts before even getting the bike, but sometimes things just need to be tested, tweaked, and even discarded and replaced, before you hit the sweet spot.
