bike feels powerless over 7k rpm so im going to overhaul the carb over the weekend, found an excellent post from matt@tyga for general steps in what to do, but just wondering since i doubt i can find the correct rubber gaskets and what not, would just opening up and cleaning with carb cleaner be ok and leaving the existing gaskets and rubbers?

also he said that its good to leave the jets and stuff in a container of carby cleaner over night, i did that with spark plugs to clean them up abit but next morning carby cleaner had evaporated.

carby cleaner i have is in a spray can, what carb cleaners does everyone else use? is it spray can or liquid bottle form, list your brands please, TIA

just put a lid over your container to stop the cleaner from evaporating Wink

I'm a fan of changing gaskets when you open something up, especially if it is compressed or torn.

That part isn't available separately, and another set of carbs won't cost the Earth.

Same Problem

Thu Jun 05, 2008 9:21 am » Post: #24 » Download Post

Man, I am so happy I found this thread. I have the same issue. But unforunately its totally randomn, tried to start it yesterday morning and it was dead. wouldn't start from kick, or push. Then got home last night and tried and it started fine.
Just had the carb cleaned and spark plugs replaced, so I am not sure about that being the issued, but then again, i don't think i could trust the ppl that did it. But will run through all the steps this weekend to make sure. Thanks for the info.

Does tempreture affect starting at all? We are in winter here so the mornings are around 4 or 5 degrees. Would that affect it?
