hi all i was just wondering how do you change the center main bearing one the crank shaft looking at the pics in the bottom end rebuild section it looks like you cant change it any one know if you can and how
The crank has to be split and rewelded true, it's a specialist job. Whether it's as good as a new crank is open to discussion, most people (including Honda) say you shouldn't replace the big ends at all either as the pin is part of the web, but it can be done. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread

It's true, but don't forget your's was split at least twice to have all bearings replaced and looking at the quality of the bearings that had been fitted when you seized it you've got to cast doubt on the quality of the first rebuild
Or maybe I'm just being a little blinkered and unwilling to accept the truth as mine looks like it's had a big end done _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
My crank needs a rebuild/replacing as well. Does anybody do rebuilds in the states? I called Eric Gorr but they only do cylinders _________________ To much HP is barely adequate!

As I (don't?) understand it the outer 2 mains no, but either big end or the middle main yes. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
if thats the case then mine was only split once, as i (dont) LOL understand it either jam said it was only the outers that had been bodged the big ends were still original..
who knows eh , all i know is that if my crank went again (please no) i would be putting a new crank in _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

Twice, once to bodge it pre you getting it and again to put it right
However I did think they were all done (big ends as well) so I stand corrected there, but it's irrelevent as the mains went again. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
I dont see why a crank cant be rebuild as good as new as long as decent bearings are used and the big ends are ok. We've build loads of 2 stoke cranks and they never give any trouble, mind the tripples are alittle tricky to true up after.. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
