Let us know how you get on Daz, I have a couple o nf5 ones I'd wouldn't mind getting done, I think the stumbling block is getting the correct bearings, but I cant see why nsr ones cant be used. _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto
Because my last crank was going into my 88 mc18 crankcases i had mc18 bearings fitted. Ive had no issues with it at all

The NTN bearing with with orange rubber insert is still proving to be impossible to get hold of, but no problem using an NSR bearing. We've had NF5s doing the Manx with NSR bearings with no problems whatsoever. _________________ Andy.

Good to know Andy, I always suspected they would be suitable, giving that I mercissly thrashed my 21 on track for several years without any problem, as for the nf5 bearing with the orange insert, I have always thought that this was some form of shock absorption built into the bearing ???. _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto
If I were a betting man, Les, I'd say the orange rubber is just a coincidence due to the spec. I imagine HRC specced the sizes and a 9-ball bearing [which allegedly has a higher speed rating than the 8-ball Koyo], and NTN said "we have just the thing!". I reckon it just happened to have that groove and rubber already, and it was easier to continue manufacturing [or use up the existing stock!] than it was to change them for HRC.
Neither the NX5 or NX6, which obviously produces much more force on the crank than any 250, have that rubber.
This is an NSR500V crank:
