När 250 mc21 160 tyre

Has anyone had a 160 rear tire on a mc21? Was there some clearance problem?
I can't find good 150 tyres in my country.
What you think about the Pirelli Diablo Rosso II?
I use the bike for having fun on twisty roads. No tracks.

Personally, speaking from my own experience, I can't advise against this strongly enough. I have never, in my 25+ years of toying with NSRs, ridden one with oversized tyres that handled well, let alone comparable to one on OEM sizes.

A few have claimed to successfully run 120/60 front and 160/60 rear, but my personal experience has been bad, although admittedly more so with the 120 section front than an oversized rear. A 160 rear will likely clip the chain as the suspension & tyre come under load, but different brands have different profiles, even though they have the same aspect ratio, so clearances will vary tyre to tyre.

My personal preferred brand is Pirelli, and recently bought Supercorsas in 110/70x17 and 150/60x17 off eBay. They come up from time-to-time, and are definitely the tyre of choice if you can get them IMHO. However, the reviews for the Diablo Rosso II generally look favourable.

Unsure of fitment on MC21 but I used a 160 on my MC28SP without issues. Bike handled great on the track with a 160. I tested it at an open track day (no sessions) at Buttonwillow Raceway. I had a mounted Pirelli Supercorsa slick on a spare wheel, did a stint with my 150 Pirelli Supercorsa DOT tire, came into the pits, quickly swapped rear wheel, and continued to lap at identical lap times. I was running a 110 Pirelli up front.

Now using a 115(?) sized 125 GP rear slick up front? Definitely does not work.

Unsure why anyone would want to run slicks on an nsr track bike, even F400 boys don't run them, would be hard to keep enough heat in them, Pirelli super corsas or similar should be ample, my son who raced at inter level for 9 years doesn't bother with slicks when he takes my Rs250 nf5 out for a spin.
